IMPORTANT MORTON NEWS:

Word of the Week for May 14: LOYALTY
This year, each "Word of the Week" is a character-building word related to the 40 Developmental Assets. Families can help us build assets in our children by reinforcing the Word of the Week at home!
►Spring is here, and Walking Club is back!
Walking Club meets every Tuesday and Friday (weather permitting) from 8:00-8:20 am. All parents and students are invited to participate. Meet Mr. E at the outdoor basketball courts.
►Voting Day - Tuesday, May 15
Morton is a polling site, so we will have lots of visitors in our building to cast their votes. Click here for details that will affect some of our routines at Morton.
►Rock Wall Walk-a-Thon - Friday, May 18, 6-8 pm
Bring your family and friends to the Millard West track for our first-ever Walk-a-Thon. Proceeds go toward building our rock wall. It's just $1 in advance if you pre-register (but pay at the gate), and $2 if you register on-site. Have dinner at home or enjoy food from the concession stand (hamburgers, hotdogs, soda, etc.). Hope to see you there! Click here for the pre-registration form.
Morton spirit items are still available!
Contact Mrs. Harris if you are interested.
• T-shirts are on sale $10.00.

 NEW POLICY INFORMATION:
Attendance
During the past legislative session, the Unicameral passed LB 800. A very important part of this new law mandates that schools report any student to the County Attorney when they have missed more than 20 school days or the hourly equivalent. This includes absences that are excused or unexcused in nature.

We know that regular school attendance helps to develop habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility and helps to ensure student success. Therefore, it is important that your child attends school daily, and we ask for your cooperation in reaching that goal.

If you have questions about this new law and the requirements, please contact Mrs. Bergstrom.

Sexual Harassment and Discrimination
All students and parents are responsible for helping the District to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment. The Millard Public Schools has adopted new policies and procedures for reporting sexual harassment and discrimination. Rule 5010.2 outlines the steps that parents and students can take should they believe they have been sexually harassed or discriminated against. Click here for more information.
