IMPORTANT MORTON NEWS:

Word of the Week for January 30: PROMPTNESS
This year, each "Word of the Week" is a character-building word related to the 40 Developmental Assets. Families can help us build assets in our children by reinforcing the Word of the Week at home!
►"KINDNESS IS CONTAGIOUS" - January 23 - February 3
Student Council is sponsoring "Kindness Is Contagious" weeks to promote kindness and no bullying. Students are invited to enter a poster contest and can earn Tootsie Rolls if they get caught being kind. Click here for information.

►Winter Weather Reminder
We do go outside for recess every day unless the temperature or wind chill is below zero! Please send your students to school with appropriate winter gear: hats, gloves or mittens, and boots. If your child wants to play in the snow at recess, please send snowpants too. Be sure to send an extra bag so wet clothes do not ruin papers, folders, and books in backpacks.

Morton spirit items are still available!
Contact Mrs. Harris if you are interested.
• T-shirts are on sale $10.00.
• Water bottles are on sale for $2.00.
• Cinch bags are on sale for $8.00.

We Recycle!

 NEW POLICY INFORMATION:
Attendance
During the past legislative session, the Unicameral passed LB 800. A very important part of this new law mandates that schools report any student to the County Attorney when they have missed more than 20 school days or the hourly equivalent. This includes absences that are excused or unexcused in nature.

We know that regular school attendance helps to develop habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility and helps to ensure student success. Therefore, it is important that your child attends school daily, and we ask for your cooperation in reaching that goal.

If you have questions about this new law and the requirements, please contact Mrs. Bergstrom.

Sexual Harassment and Discrimination
All students and parents are responsible for helping the District to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment. The Millard Public Schools has adopted new policies and procedures for reporting sexual harassment and discrimination. Rule 5010.2 outlines the steps that parents and students can take should they believe they have been sexually harassed or discriminated against. Click here for more information.
